A fast, story-led website for a startup putting solar-powered food carts in the hands of Kenyan micro-entrepreneurs.

Project Summary

  • Client: Zuhura Solutions
  • Industry: clean energy
  • My role: Full-Stack Developer
  • Core tasks: Web development (SvelteKit), Waitlist & contact flows, CMS & infrastructure, SEO & analytics

Zuhura Solutions equips street-food vendors, most of them women and young people, with the Halisi Trolley: a solar and biofuel hybrid vending cart. The startup needed a website that could tell that story to customers, partners and funders, and build a waitlist.

What I built

  • A story-led website. Home, about, products, impact mapped to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, news, careers, FAQs and contact, with GSAP motion.
  • Waitlist and contact flows. Submissions are stored in Firestore with rate limiting and hashed IPs, and Cloud Functions send email notifications.
  • SEO and analytics. Open Graph, Twitter cards and canonical URLs on every page, plus GA4 tracking.
  • A content platform. A Strapi 5 CMS with 16 content types (articles, news, roles, team, testimonials, partners, SDG impact and more) on Neon Postgres, with media on Google Cloud Storage.

Under the hood

The site is SvelteKit with Svelte 5, Tailwind 4 and bits-ui, server-rendered on Firebase Hosting's framework backend. The CMS runs on a Google Cloud VM behind Nginx and Let's Encrypt, managed with PM2.

The result

Zuhura launched with a polished, fast site at zuhurasolutions.com that explains a new product clearly and turns interest into waitlist sign-ups.
