Helping salons ditch pen and paper, with appointments, clients, staff and sales in one desktop and web app.

Project Summary

  • Client: Suwavy
  • Industry: beauty
  • My role: Full-Stack Developer
  • Core tasks: Product design, Web app, Desktop app
  • Appointed date: May 2020
  • Completion: Oct 2020

Most beauty parlours in Kenya still run on a notebook. Appointments are pencilled in, client preferences are remembered (or not), and commissions are worked out by hand at month end. Suwavy's mission was simple: help salons ditch pen and paper.

What I built

  • Appointments. A booking calendar for stylists and chairs that ends double-booking.
  • Client records. History, preferences and contact details on hand for every visit.
  • Staff and services. Service menus, pricing and staff assignments in one place.
  • Sales tracking. Daily takings and a clear view of how the business is doing.

It shipped as both a web app and a desktop app, so a salon can run it on the front-desk computer.

The result

Salon owners got a clearer picture of their business and their clients, with far less paperwork.
